No matter how many times you restart, you&#8217;ll get the same message. In most cases, this is caused by a conflict with the July payroll tax update. Sage has released a second July payroll tax update that fixes this problem. The tax update needs to be installed before the version 2026.1 update.<br><br>When you exit Sage 50, you may get a message saying both the 2nd July 2026 payroll tax update and the Sage 50 version 2026.1 update are ready to be installed. Simply choosing to install the 2nd July Tax Update first will prevent the error. This method only works for single users, or for the server in a multi-user setting.<br><br>If you don&#8217;t get the message prompting you to install the tax update, or if you&#8217;re installing on multiple workstations, you&#8217;ll need to install manually. Open <em>File Explorer<\/em>, navigate to your Sage 50 data path, and open the <em>Updates<\/em> folder. Then double click the file <em>Tax2026Jul02_Release2026.exe<\/em> to run the tax update. Once the tax update has been installed, you can run the version 2026.1 update by double clicking\u00a0<em>PTXA2026.1.0.exe<\/em>.
