{"id":148,"date":"2010-07-30T18:56:15","date_gmt":"2010-07-30T23:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/?p=148"},"modified":"2012-09-24T14:12:03","modified_gmt":"2012-09-24T19:12:03","slug":"outlook-sync","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/outlook-sync\/","title":{"rendered":"OUTLOOK SYNC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you have ever discovered that your contact information for a customer was different in Outlook and in Peachtree, and you weren&#8217;t sure which one was correct, Peachtree&#8217;s Outlook synchronization feature could be for you.\u00a0 It takes just a minute or two to set up.\u00a0 Just go to the <strong>File<\/strong> menu in Peachtree and choose <strong>Sync With Outlook<\/strong>.\u00a0 The <em>Outlook Sync Settings<\/em> window will open.\u00a0 At the top of the window, click the <strong>Browse<\/strong> button to select which contact folder in Outlook you want your Peachtree contacts to be sent to.\u00a0 Peachtree will set up 3 folders inside the folder you select.\u00a0 They will be named:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Your Company Name<\/em> Customers (Peachtree)<\/li>\n<li><em>Your Company Name<\/em> Vendors (Peachtree)<\/li>\n<li><em>Your Company Name<\/em> Employees (Peachtree)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The next setting is <em>Conflict Resolution<\/em>.\u00a0 If information for the same contact is changed in both Peachtree and Outlook between synchronizations, this setting determines which program&#8217;s data replaces the other&#8217;s.\u00a0 Whichever you choose here will be used automatically during synchronization.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Contact Formatting<\/em> option lets you choose whether contacts added to Peachtree from Outlook should be formatted as &#8220;First Name Last Name&#8221; or &#8220;Last Name, First Name&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have made your choices, click <strong>OK<\/strong> and, after a brief pause, the Outlook Sync window will appear.\u00a0 The <strong>Cancel <\/strong>button ends the process without syncing.\u00a0 The <strong>Settings<\/strong> button will bring up the previous screen so that you can review or change your setting.\u00a0 And, of course, the <strong>Sync Now<\/strong> button will start the synchronization process.\u00a0 When it is finished Peachtree will show a summary of how many contacts were synchronized.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a contact in Outlook that you want to add to Peachtree, just copy or move that contact into one of the 3 Outlook contact folders that Peachtree created.\u00a0 Next time you synchronize, that contact will be imported into Peachtree.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a couple of things to keep in mind about this feature.\u00a0 In my testing, it appears that it will only sync the primary (bill to) contact for a customer.\u00a0 It did not sync the additional contacts from Peachtree.\u00a0 And, the process is not continuous.\u00a0 You will need to remember to periodically go to the File menu in Peachtree and choose <strong>Sync With Outlook<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Peachtree can synchronize its customer list, vendor list, and employee list with contacts in Outlook, making it easier to keep your contact information up to date everywhere you use it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/148"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=148"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/148\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":578,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/148\/revisions\/578"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=148"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=148"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=148"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
