{"id":135,"date":"2010-05-26T16:00:08","date_gmt":"2010-05-26T21:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/?p=135"},"modified":"2012-09-24T14:10:42","modified_gmt":"2012-09-24T19:10:42","slug":"customize-transaction-entry-screens-with-layouttemplate-button","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/customize-transaction-entry-screens-with-layouttemplate-button\/","title":{"rendered":"CUSTOMIZE TRANSACTION ENTRY SCREENS WITH LAYOUT\/TEMPLATE BUTTON."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most transaction screens in Peachtree allow you to hide fields that you don&#8217;t use.\u00a0 That can make data entry faster and easier.\u00a0 This feature changed in version 2008, so I will explain both ways.<\/p>\n<p>Through version 2007, the button was labeled Template.\u00a0 In Sales\/Invoicing (or other transaction entry screen) click the <em>Template <\/em>button near the top right of the window.\u00a0 You will see a list of existing templates and a choice to Customize Templates.\u00a0 Choose <em>Customize Templates<\/em>.\u00a0 Click the <em>New <\/em>button to start a new template; then give it an <em>ID<\/em> and <em>Description<\/em>.\u00a0 To hide a field, click in the field and it will change from <em>&lt;Show&gt;<\/em> to <em>&lt;Hide&gt;<\/em>.\u00a0 If you click again it will switch back.\u00a0 One exception is the GL Account.\u00a0 Before the template feature was introduced, you could show or hide it by going to the <em>Options<\/em> menu and choosing <em>Global<\/em>.\u00a0 So control of it has stayed there.\u00a0 At the top are two additional options.\u00a0 If you want to automatically use this template, check the <em>Set Template As Default<\/em> box.\u00a0 If you want to always print using a certain invoice (or whatever you are entering), check the <em>Always print using a specific form<\/em> box and choose the form from the drop down list.\u00a0 And of course, save your changes when you are done.<\/p>\n<p>In version 2008 and later, the button is still in the upper right of the transaction entry windows, but it has been renamed <em>Layout<\/em>.\u00a0 Click it and choose <em>Customize Invoice<\/em>.\u00a0 Click the <em>New<\/em> button to start a new layout; give it a name (formerly ID) and description.\u00a0 The layout feature has been expanded to control both the data entry screen and the printed form.\u00a0 So next to each field, just check the box if you want it to show on the entry screen and\/or the printed form.\u00a0 Any boxes that are checked and grayed out are required fields.\u00a0 At the right, you can select a form that you want to use when printing.\u00a0 The blue underlined options are hyperlinks that will open the form designer so you can make more extensive changes to the way the form will print.\u00a0 When you save your changes and close the Layout window, Peachtree will automatically start using your new layout.<\/p>\n<p>With either version, if you find you need a field that is hidden, just click the Template\/Layout button and choose one of the standard formats to see all of the fields again.\u00a0 When you are done, you can switch back to your custom version the same way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With just a few clicks, you can make transaction entry faster by hiding fields that you don&#8217;t use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/135"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=135"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/135\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":570,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/135\/revisions\/570"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=135"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=135"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.iqaccountingsolutions.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=135"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
